Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade Asake has officially parted ways with Olamide’s YBNL Nation, confirming long-standing speculation about his exit.
The announcement came with the release of his latest single, Why Love, under his newly established record label, Giran Republic.
Asake joined YBNL Nation in February 2022 after years of struggling to break into the mainstream. His career skyrocketed under the label, with hit songs like Omo Ope, Sungba, Peace Be Unto You, and Terminator. His debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, broke several streaming records, making him one of the fastest-rising Afrobeats stars.
Despite persistent rumors of a fallout with Olamide, Asake had previously dismissed such claims with his single Military, which paid tribute to the YBNL boss. Olamide also continued to show support for Asake, reinforcing the idea that their relationship remained amicable.
In July 2022, Asake secured a distribution deal with Empire, which played a crucial role in amplifying his global reach. His departure from YBNL does not affect his ongoing partnership with Empire, as he continues to push his music independently under Giran Republic.
