
Troops of the One Division of the Nigerian Army successfully neutralized seven terrorists in a series of operations in the Kaduna general area. The operations were carried out in Udawa Village, Chikun Local Government Area, and Kwaga Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, according to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations.
On Sunday, troops stationed at a blocking position in Udawa conducted a fighting patrol along the Udawa-Kurebe Road. During an encounter with terrorists, five criminal elements were neutralized. The Army reported the recovery of various weapons from the terrorists, including an empty AK-47 rifle magazine, a pump-action gun, six cartridges, and several other dangerous items.
In a separate operation at Kwaga Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, troops neutralized two more terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and two motorcycles.
Furthermore, in Sabo Birni, Igabi Local Government Area, troops intercepted suspected terrorist movements at Baka Village. They engaged the terrorists, causing some to flee with gunshot wounds. The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles.
Major General MLD Saraso, General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, commended the troops for their aggressive stance and urged them to maintain the pressure on terrorists, insurgents, and violent extremists. He appealed to law-abiding citizens to report individuals with gunshot wounds seeking medical attention to the Nigerian Army or other security agencies.
Additionally, Major General Saraso called on the people of Kaduna and Niger States to provide the Nigerian Army and other security agencies with timely and actionable intelligence to enhance their operations.
