Alec Baldwin, the “30 Rock” star, announced on Tuesday that he and his wife Hilaria will star in a new reality TV show. This announcement comes just a month before Baldwin stands trial for manslaughter related to a deadly shooting on a film set.
The show will air on TLC and will provide an inside look at the Baldwin family’s life, showcasing the “ups and downs” of raising their seven children, who range in age from 19 months to 10 years. “We’re inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs; the good, the bad, the wild and the crazy,” the couple shared on Instagram. “Home is the place we love to be most. We are the Baldwins, and we’re going to TLC! God help you all.”
This new venture into reality TV comes as Baldwin, 66, prepares to face a jury in New Mexico over the accidental on-set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The incident occurred in October 2021 during rehearsals for the film “Rust” when a Colt .45 that Baldwin was handling discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Baldwin has consistently denied pulling the trigger, claiming the gun should not have been loaded with a live round.
Despite Baldwin’s attempts to have the charges dismissed, a judge ruled last month that the trial would proceed. Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted. Hannah Gutierrez, the armorer responsible for loading the gun, was sentenced in April to 18 months in prison after being convicted of manslaughter.
Reactions to the announcement of Baldwin’s new reality show have been mixed. While some fans have shown support, others criticized the timing and questioned how much of the family’s true daily life, including the roles of nannies and staff, would be depicted. One commentator, @lee_ann56, remarked, “If this is a reality show, you need to acknowledge the people we never see, who take care of your children.”
Baldwin, who also gained fame for his portrayal of Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” has largely stayed out of the public eye since Hutchins’ death. His new reality show, set to premiere in 2025, marks a significant return to the spotlight. Baldwin has a 28-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.
