Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has denied allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who claimed that her confrontations with Akpabio began after rejecting his alleged romantic advances.

In an interview on Arise News’ Morning Show on Friday, Natasha stated that her issues with the Senate President stemmed from her refusal of his supposed overtures.

However, responding to the claims, Ekaette described her husband as a disciplined and responsible man, dismissing Natasha’s statements as baseless and misleading. She insisted that Akpabio had been a friend of Natasha’s family even before her marriage and found the allegations puzzling.

“It’s very demeaning because we knew her husband before they got married. They are very good friends. So, I don’t understand where this is coming from,” she said.

Ekaette also questioned why Natasha’s husband had not shown any signs of concern if such allegations were true.

“If a wife tells her husband that his friend harassed her, there would be a reaction. But her husband has remained normal with my husband. That’s why this whole thing doesn’t make sense,” she argued.

Additionally, she refuted claims about a property in Ikot Ekpene, clarifying that the Akpabios do not own any house there.

Defending her husband’s integrity, she emphasized that during his tenure as governor, Akpabio empowered women in government, and no one had ever accused him of misconduct.

“He is a responsible and disciplined man. As a governor, he appointed many women into government positions, and none ever accused him of such a thing,” she said.

Ekaette suggested that people often take advantage of her husband’s tolerance for criticism, but she was now prepared to pursue legal action over such allegations.
