The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under Operation Hadin Kai, has successfully conducted an air interdiction on August 16 in the Southern Tumbuns of Borno, resulting in the elimination of five high-ranking terrorist commanders and over 35 fighters.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), AVM Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the operation in a statement on Wednesday. He disclosed that the killed commanders included Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (alias Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki.
Gabkwet explained that the operation was part of a broader effort to diminish the capabilities of the remaining terrorists in the region. “This operation, no doubt, has significantly degraded the operational capacity of the few remaining terrorists in the region,” he stated.
He further detailed that the airstrike was launched after intelligence revealed the clandestine migration of terrorists into the area from neighboring locations. “Confirmatory Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions were conducted on August 12 and 15, identifying numerous terrorists and active structures concealed under trees,” Gabkwet said.
The strike led to the destruction of several key assets belonging to the terrorists, including equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary. “Battle Damage Assessment after the strikes revealed that several equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary were obliterated by the strikes,” Gabkwet added.
The NAF remains committed to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in ensuring peace and security prevail in the region. “The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to supporting the efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in safeguarding the region and ensuring peace and security prevail,” Gabkwet affirmed.
