In the latest Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elections, Afam Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former General Secretary of the NBA, emerged as the president-elect.

The online election, which commenced at midnight on Saturday and concluded at 11:59 pm, was closely monitored by our correspondent.

Osigwe secured 20,435 votes, outpacing his closest rival, Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, who received 10,998 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), a former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, garnered 9,018 votes. Osigwe is set to take over from the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN).

In other results, Sabastine Anyia won the 1st Vice-President position with 12,114 votes, while Bartholomew Aguegbodo received 6,864 votes. Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun emerged as the 2nd Vice-President with 26,534 votes, defeating Pius Oiwoh who got 11,121 votes.

For the 3rd Vice-President, Mrs. Zainab Garba triumphed with 23,550 votes, with Michael Olorunmola receiving 13,897 votes. Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara was elected as the General Secretary with 25,713 votes against Abdulwasiu Alfa’s 11,730 votes.

Henry Ehi won the Assistant General Secretary position with 28,552 votes, surpassing Oluwaseun Aka who got 8,317 votes. Mrs. Blessing Udofa-Poromon secured the Treasurer position with 17,998 votes, defeating Mbamala Chukwuemeka who received 9,825 votes.

Nyada Auta emerged as the Welfare Secretary with 18,369 votes, beating Oaikhena Osagie who got 12,855 votes. Mrs. Bridget Edokwe won the Publicity Secretary role with 19,542 votes, surpassing Charles Ajiboye’s 10,989 votes. Miss Ebiere Ekpese secured the Assistant Publicity Secretary position with 26,955 votes, defeating Lawrence Ayewa who scored 9,690 votes.
