Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has been nominated for the prestigious 2024 Globe Soccer Awards as one of the contenders for the Best Men’s Player award. The announcement was made on Thursday via X, marking a significant milestone in the footballer’s career.

Lookman, who has been in sensational form with Atalanta in Serie A, joins an elite list of footballing superstars, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland. This recognition highlights Lookman’s impressive performances, having previously played for Leicester City and RB Leipzig.

The full list of nominees showcases both established legends and emerging stars from Europe’s top leagues. Among them are Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, representing English football’s dominance. Despite being in the latter stages of their careers, Messi and Ronaldo continue to make their mark, underlining their legacy of consistent excellence.

The competition this year is fierce, with Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, and Bundesliga’s Robert Lewandowski also in the mix. La Liga’s Federico Valverde, Vinícius Júnior, and Alejandro Grimaldo have been recognised for their exceptional performances.

In a statement, the Globe Soccer Awards said, “The nominees with the highest number of votes will form the shortlist of finalists in this category.” The 15th edition of the Globe Soccer Awards will take place on December 27th, alongside the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference, in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council.

This recognition further cements Lookman’s rise in the world of football, placing him alongside some of the game’s biggest names.
