Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke - 1

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has imposed a fresh curfew on the warring communities of Ilobu and Ifon following renewed clashes over a longstanding land dispute. The conflict, which reignited on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, has led to gunshot injuries and accusations from both towns regarding the origin of the violence.

The Ifon Progressive Union claims that gunmen from Ilobu attacked the Apiponroro area, resulting in panic and the displacement of residents. Meanwhile, the Otun Jagun of Ilobu, Chief Goke Ogunsola, refuted these allegations, asserting that the attacks were initiated by Ifon gunmen.

In response to the escalating violence, Governor Adeleke has implemented a curfew from 7 pm to 7 am daily, effective immediately. Security forces, including the Army, Police, and Civil Defence, have been deployed to prevent further unrest. Additionally, a committee comprising community representatives and state officials will be formed to resolve the conflict and ensure lasting peace in the region.

The Governor’s decision aims to restore order and prevent further bloodshed, emphasizing that anyone found responsible for further violence will face legal consequences.
