The family of Abuja-based lawyer Adaobi Alagwu has officially returned her dowry to billionaire businessman Tunde Ayeni, signaling a formal separation amid the ongoing paternity dispute over their daughter.
In a viral video, a representative of Adaobi’s family announced the decision, stating, “We are here to return her dowry, and if we agree together, she will cease to have anything to do with Tunde. She will cease communication, and the other part of the family will withdraw, so that everybody can move on with their normal life. As far as everyone is concerned, Adaobi ceases to have anything to do with Tunde today.”
The family emphasized their commitment to moving forward, putting an end to any ties between the two parties.
The move comes amid a legal battle over the paternity of their daughter, Omarosa Abimbola Ayeni. Adaobi’s legal representatives have maintained that she was lawfully married to Ayeni and that the child was conceived before the marriage rites were performed. They also pointed to a DNA test conducted by the UK-based DNA Diagnostics Centre (DDC), which confirmed Ayeni as the biological father.
However, Ayeni has rejected the test results, calling them compromised and unreliable. He alleged inconsistencies in the testing process, claiming that a letter extending the release date of the results was not recognized by the DNA center. Due to these doubts, Ayeni sought an independent test at a different facility, which Adaobi reportedly declined.
