The National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Eniola Olajuni, has been released after spending 12 days in captivity.
The National Secretary of the council, Biodun Aderohunmu, confirmed Olajuni’s release in a brief WhatsApp message on Saturday, stating, “He has been released.”
Olajuni was abducted on February 17, 2025, while on his way to Abuja for a meeting. His kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of N100 million and two tricycles for his release.
Following his abduction, a distressing video surfaced online showing Olajuni at gunpoint, pleading for financial assistance from Nigerians to secure his freedom. In response, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, deployed the Intelligence Response Team to facilitate his rescue.
Further details on the circumstances of his release are expected to emerge.
