Iran resumed flights at its airports on Thursday, October 3, 2024, following a temporary suspension that came after the country launched a missile attack on Israel.

The brief halt affected both domestic and international flights, which were grounded for security reasons until 5:00 a.m. local time (0130 GMT), according to state media.

Jafar Yazarloo, spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, confirmed the resumption of flights, stating, “After ensuring favourable and safe flight conditions and ending of the restrictions, airlines are allowed to carry out flight operations,” as reported by the official IRNA news agency.

The missile attack on Israel, which took place on Tuesday evening, involved the launch of 200 missiles and marked Iran’s second-ever direct attack on the country, following a missile and drone strike in April. The attack led to increased security concerns, prompting the temporary suspension of flights.

In response to the volatile situation, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has advised European airlines to avoid Iranian airspace until at least October 31, with ongoing reviews of the situation. Similar warnings were also issued for Israeli and Lebanese airspace over the weekend.
