Lawyers for Sean “Diddy” Combs have filed an appeal seeking his release from custody ahead of his upcoming criminal trial.

The music mogul is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after being charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals to engage in prostitution earlier this month. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Despite his legal team’s request for a $50 million bond, home detention, and restrictions on visitors, Judge Andrew Carter denied bail, citing concerns that Combs poses a danger to the community and could be a flight risk. The judge pointed to allegations of witness tampering as a key reason for his decision.

The notice of appeal, filed by newly appointed attorneys Anthony Ricco and Alexandra Shapiro, signals an effort to strengthen Combs’ defense team ahead of the trial. They join his longstanding attorney Marc Agnifilo, who has been representing Combs throughout the ongoing legal challenges and federal investigation.

Combs is sharing a dorm-style room with notable inmates, including FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried and the former president of Honduras.
