Nigerian crossdresser and social media influencer, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has taken legal action against social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, for defamation.

Bobrisky is suing for ₦1 billion in damages, claiming that VeryDarkMan falsely accused him of engaging in illicit relationships with high-profile figures, including politicians and law enforcement officials, through an AI-generated audio recording.

The lawsuit, filed by Bobrisky’s legal team and announced on his Instagram account, alleges that VeryDarkMan “used our client’s name and influence for personal gain,” spreading false and damaging claims. The legal team stated, “Recently, you alleged in one of your trending videos that various Deputy Inspectors General of the Nigeria Police Force, lawmakers, senators, and politicians were in the habit of having sexual intercourse with our client, yet you have not provided any proof of these claims to date.”

The lawsuit also addresses concerns about Bobrisky’s mental health and privacy, claiming that VeryDarkMan showed no regard for these factors when releasing the defamatory statements. “You have persisted in making reckless and unfounded statements, including hearsay that you cannot prove against our client, disregarding his mental health, general wellbeing, right to privacy, right to freedom of thought, right to life, and other fundamental constitutional rights.”

Additionally, the suit highlights an AI-generated audio call released by VeryDarkMan, allegedly implicating Bobrisky in a compromising conversation. The legal team strongly denies Bobrisky’s involvement, stating, “Our client has never had any audio conversation with this individual, and your act of defamation and blackmail should be retracted within 24 hours of the service of this letter of demand.”

The demands of the lawsuit are clear: VeryDarkMan must delete the audio clip, issue a public apology in two national newspapers, and record a video apology to be shared on all social media platforms. Furthermore, the suit calls for the immediate payment of ₦1 billion in damages. Bobrisky’s lawyers warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would result in legal action: “Should you fail to take advantage of the alternative dispute resolution mechanism… we shall seek legal redress in a court of competent jurisdiction immediately without any further notice.”

This legal action follows a viral AI-generated audio where VeryDarkMan allegedly claimed that Bobrisky bribed unnamed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives with ₦15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him. Bobrisky’s team firmly denies these allegations, demanding that VeryDarkMan provide “strict proof regarding the authenticity of the said audio recording.”

Bobrisky’s lawyers emphasized, “It is shocking that you would publish an AI-generated audio recording to damage our client’s social standing and place his life in jeopardy solely for your selfish personal goals,” He said.
