The Nigerian Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet.

During a press briefing held at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this development.

While he confirmed the imminent reshuffle, Onanuga emphasized that there is no exact timeline for when it will happen, though it could occur before October 1st.

“The President has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet, and he will do it. I don’t know whether it will happen before October 1st, but he will surely do it,” Onanuga said, stressing that no formal date had been provided.

The Special Adviser also mentioned that during the last Federal Executive Council meeting, President Tinubu instructed his ministers to actively publicize the achievements of his administration. Onanuga noted that some ministers have been “media shy, television shy, radio shy,” but that Tinubu urged them to overcome these hesitations.

“The feeling out there is that the government is not doing enough, while in fact, the government has been making significant progress. It is up to the ministers to go out there and speak about what their ministries have been doing,” Onanuga added.

Tinubu’s cabinet was originally appointed in August 2023, and this reshuffling is expected to refine the administration’s strategies as it tackles key national issues.

Further details on the reshuffle are anticipated shortly.
