Daniel Dubois successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title by knocking out former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium, London, on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Dubois dominated from the start, flooring Joshua in both the first and third rounds. The decisive moment came in the fifth round when Dubois landed a powerful straight right hand, sending Joshua face-first to the canvas. The referee quickly stepped in to stop the fight, securing Dubois’ first successful title defense.
The match drew a record-breaking post-war boxing crowd of 96,000 fans in the United Kingdom.
Dubois became IBF champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt in June. With this victory, Dubois has further solidified his position in the heavyweight division and is now eyeing a potential fight with the winner of the highly anticipated rematch between WBA, WBC, and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
