In a gesture of compassion, Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has donated N500 million to assist victims of the recent flood disaster that ravaged Maiduguri, Borno State. The flood, which affected 70% of the city, displaced millions of residents and left behind a trail of destruction.
Seyi Tinubu, accompanied by his brother, friends, and associates, personally delivered the donation, emphasizing that their visit was an expression of solidarity and a step toward providing relief to the young people most affected by the catastrophe.
“We are here today, not just as representatives of our family but as part of a collective effort by young Nigerians to bring hope and relief to those who need it most,” Seyi said during his visit. “Maiduguri and Borno State have rich histories, and the people are resilient. Despite the past challenges, they have braved all odds. This tragedy deserves our collective effort, support, and prayers.”
Addressing the state governor, Babagana Zulum, and other officials at the Borno State Government House, Seyi added, “Inspired by my father’s call for private sector support, my wife Layal, my brother Yinka, our friends, and numerous private sector partners have come together to respond to the needs of those displaced.”
The relief package also included 10,000 essential supplies such as mosquito nets, mattresses, blankets, and sanitation kits. Furthermore, medical supplies were donated, including antimalarials, anti-hypertensives, antibiotics, and other critical medications to benefit approximately 50,000 children and adults.
Governor Zulum expressed his deep gratitude for the donation and assured that the resources would be used to assist the affected families.
In a final statement, Seyi Tinubu reiterated the importance of collective action during such crises. “In times of hardship, it is our shared responsibility to stand together. The Nigerian youth stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Borno. We are in this together, and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Just like President Bola Tinubu said, Borno will rise again,” He said.
