The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated the Inter-Ministerial Committee responsible for planning and executing Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration on October 1, 2024.

In a statement, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), revealed that the celebration will be low-key to reflect the nation’s challenging times.

The event will include a World Press Conference, Juma’at Service, Church Service, Presidential Broadcast, and the Independence Day Parade. The committee, chaired by SGF Senator Akume and represented by Hadiza Bala Usman, aims to highlight the government’s achievements and reforms within its short tenure.

The committee comprises several ministers, security officials, and special advisers tasked with organizing all approved activities for the celebration.
