Famous Nigerian comedians, Basketmouth and AY Makun, have officially ended their 18-year-long feud, marking a new chapter in their relationship. The pair, who have been at odds for nearly two decades, shared a light-hearted video on social media that symbolized their reconciliation.
Basketmouth, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, posted a humorous clip of their recent interaction, where he sought advice from fellow comedian AY, following a discussion with veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD). The video quickly went viral, with AY sharing it on his own page as well.
Reflecting on the moment, Basketmouth wrote, “I should never have listened to RMD,” tagging the video with the hashtags #AGhettoLoveStory and #TheWaiter.
AY also shared his joy over their renewed friendship, with the reconciliation drawing praise from fellow celebrities and fans. In the comment section, comedian Igodye remarked, “There’s nothing we can use to compare peace and the price of keeping it.”
Fans and celebrities alike celebrated the duo’s reconciliation. Instagram user @iamnasboi commented, “Thank you, masters! For letting love lead.” Another fan, @mizvick, added, “What God cannot do does not exist.”
The reconciliation has been warmly received by netizens, who took to social media to express their excitement. One user, @olainglis, stated, “I was having a stressful day at work until I saw this. Love the reconciliation. It’s amazing. I can’t stop laughing. Thanks for the smile you put on people’s faces.”
Their public fallout, which has made headlines over the years, finally appears to have come to a peaceful resolution, with the comedians putting their differences aside.
