Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has once again showcased his admiration for Afrobeats, featuring Asake’s hit track Active in his latest Instagram post.
The post, which quickly went viral, has amassed over 18.7 million views, 1.2 million likes, and more than 20,000 comments within just four hours of being uploaded.
This marks Ronaldo’s second public nod to Nigerian music after previously sharing a video of his children dancing to Rema’s Calm Down in 2023.
In the video, the 39-year-old footballer used Asake’s song to promote new content on his rapidly growing YouTube channel, which hit over 313,000 views and 90,000 likes within the first three hours of posting. His channel, which focuses on personal and family life insights, has set multiple records since its launch on August 21, including reaching one million subscribers in just 90 minutes.
Ronaldo continues to dominate social media, boasting 639 million followers on Instagram and 62 million subscribers on YouTube.
This latest collaboration between global sports and Afrobeats further cements the genre’s rising global influence.
