The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raided and shut down an illegal cosmetics factory operating at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State, Nigeria. The agency seized over 1,200 cartons of fake cosmetic products, unregistered chemicals, and expired items being re-labeled for sale.

During the operation, various mini-mixing containers, batch coding materials, and thinners were also confiscated. According to NAFDAC, the street value of the seized goods is estimated to be around ₦50 million.

A NAFDAC representative, speaking on the raid, stated, “This is part of our continuous efforts to rid the market of unregistered and dangerous cosmetic products that pose serious health risks to consumers.”

The agency has advised the public to remain vigilant when purchasing cosmetics and to report any suspicious activities. “We urge everyone to be cautious and report any suspicious cosmetics to the nearest NAFDAC office for proper investigation,” NAFDAC added.
