There is a significant security presence at the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, following rumors of the monarch’s death. Oba Aromolaran, 87, has ruled for 42 years and was reportedly admitted to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State, until Wednesday.
Impeccable sources within the palace confirmed that the monarch passed away on Wednesday. A family member, while mourning, stated, “They are moving personal belongings of the king out of the palace as I am speaking with you.”
Security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken control of the palace, with the gates reportedly shut.
