The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of Operation Whirl Punch, has conducted successful airstrikes against terrorists who attacked security operatives in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State. Over 100 terrorists engaged security operatives in a fierce gun battle, prompting a call for air support.
NAF deployed air assets and conducted precision airstrikes, neutralizing dozens of terrorists. As of the time of the report, 28 bodies had been recovered, and efforts to clear more terrorists, weapons, and burnt motorcycles continue.
Group Captain Kabiru Ali emphasized that the operation highlights the NAF’s commitment to supporting other security agencies in the fight against crime across Nigeria. Shiroro Local Government has been a hotspot for banditry activities, with multiple attacks on troops in the past leading to a temporary withdrawal of military forces.
