The newly-crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has disclosed that she deleted her X page (formerly known as Twitter) to protect her mental health. Chidimma faced criticism while competing in South Africa, where accusations arose that her mother committed fraud and identity theft, according to the South Africa Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
In an interview with Arise 360, Chidinma shared that the intense and often negative comments she received online prompted her to leave the platform. “I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader, so I read each and every comment… it became toxic for me,” she explained.
She also mentioned that using Instagram with a limited comment section provided some relief. Chidinma expressed gratitude to her supporters, saying their encouragement helped her through the difficult period.
