Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, Senior Prophet of Christ MercyLand Ministry, has denied allegations that his church used the name of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to deceive Nigerians regarding its spiritual items.

In a statement issued by MercyLand Television Deliverance Ministry and signed by Sophia Iloyd, the church disputed a recent media report that NAFDAC was investigating the church’s spiritual items such as miracle water and soap. The statement emphasized that Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry is a law-abiding church that respects Nigeria’s laws, including those set by NAFDAC, and upholds the constitutional right to freedom of religion.

“We wish to state that at no point has our church ever deceived or attempted to deceive the public,” the statement read. “All the church has done is exercise its right to religious expression through the use of spiritual items, which are not sold as consumables to the public.”

The church clarified that it had received a letter from NAFDAC’s Asaba office on August 27, 2024, inviting the spiritual head for discussions about the church’s spiritual items. However, the church claimed that the only pending complaint against it was filed by an individual who allegedly forged receipts to falsely implicate the church.

The church further revealed that there is an ongoing police investigation into the forged receipts presented to NAFDAC, asserting that the discrepancies in the receipts indicated forgery.

The church maintains that it has not received any feedback from NAFDAC regarding these issues.
