Notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, has declared that he and his associates are not afraid of death, in a new video challenging the Nigerian government. In the video, Turji threatened the government for deploying Service Chiefs to Sokoto State to combat his group.
“If they were afraid of dying, we wouldn’t have taken up arms in the first place. Stop sending Service Chiefs after us,” Turji stated in the video, which has been widely circulated online.
Recently, Turji and his followers were seen celebrating after allegedly seizing two Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) from the Nigerian Army. However, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) refuted this claim, explaining that the MRAPs were demobilized after getting stuck in swampy terrain during an operation in Zamfara State.
In response, the Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, and other top military officials visited Sokoto State on Tuesday, expressing their readiness to lead a military offensive against Turji and other criminal elements terrorizing the North West region of Nigeria.
