
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Adeleye Ayomide, suspected to be involved in the death of Idowu Christiana, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Nigeria.
The tragic incident occurred when Christiana was reportedly kidnapped by unknown assailants along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State on Monday, August 19, 2024.
The arrest was announced by Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to share the update. He stated, “23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”
The abduction and subsequent death of Christiana Idowu have sparked outrage across Nigeria, particularly on social media, where the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah has been trending. Many Nigerians are demanding swift justice and accountability for the crime.
