Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has been murdered following her abduction in August.
The 21-year-old student was kidnapped while traveling to the University of Lagos for industrial training. According to reports, the suspect has been arrested and confessed to killing Idowu and burying her at his residence.
The suspect, whose identity is currently withheld, allegedly confessed to the crime after security agencies tracked him down through a series of investigative efforts. “On September 3, the suspect reportedly confessed to the father and the soldiers that he killed the girl and buried her in their house,” an insider disclosed.
The abduction, which began when the kidnappers contacted Idowu’s parents via her WhatsApp, included ransom demands. Despite paying part of the ransom, the communication abruptly ceased. The suspect was eventually identified through transactions linked to a betting account and other digital footprints.
The gruesome details of Idowu’s death have sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians calling for justice under the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah.
