The Lagos State Government has extended its work-from-home policy for workers for another three months to mitigate the impact of the recent increase in petrol prices.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the extension, which was announced in a circular signed by the state Head of Service, Bode Agoro, on Wednesday. Initially implemented on February 28, the policy allows workers on grade levels 01 to 14 to work from home for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 are permitted one day of remote work weekly.

The decision aims to ease the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent petrol price hike. According to the governor, the policy has had a positive impact on workers’ productivity across various state ministries, departments, and agencies. The extension took effect from September 4, 2024.
