Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine, a vocal critic of President Yoweri Museveni, was reportedly shot in the leg by police on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, according to his party.

The incident occurred in Bulindo, central Uganda, while Wine was returning from visiting one of his lawyers. His party claims that police and military forces targeted him, firing live bullets and teargas canisters.

However, the Ugandan police stated that Wine sustained the injury after stumbling while getting into his car and have announced an investigation to clarify the facts.

Videos on social media showed Wine being carried by his party members, with blood visible on his left leg. The 42-year-old pop star turned politician and his National Unity Platform have frequently clashed with Museveni’s government, and he has been arrested multiple times for his political activities.
