The Falconets, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s football team, started their campaign at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 1-0 win over Korea Republic in their Group D opener on Monday morning.

Flourish Sabastine emerged as the match-winner, scoring the decisive goal just four minutes from time. The goal was set up by substitute Chukwuamaka Goodness Osigwe, who provided the assist. The Nigerian team, led by coach Chris Danjuma, delivered a solid defensive performance, particularly in the second half, to secure their victory.

Following the win, the Falconets are in second place in Group D with three points, tied with former champions Germany, who defeated Venezuela 5-2 but hold the top spot due to a superior goal difference. The Falconets will face Germany in their next match at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota on Wednesday.
