The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted hard drugs valued at N17.9 billion in significant operations conducted in Lagos and Rivers States, Nigeria.

According to a statement by NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the agency seized a total of 31,124,600 pills of tramadol 225mg and bottles of codeine-based syrup at the Onne and Tincan seaports.

These seizures were made following intelligence that prompted the agency to demand a 100% joint examination of the containers, in collaboration with the Nigerian Customs Service and other security agencies. The operations led to the recovery of 350,000 bottles of codeine-based syrup from two containers at Tincan port, Lagos, and nearly 30 million pills of tramadol, along with 380,000 bottles of codeine syrup, from three containers at the Port Harcourt Port Complex, Onne.

In a related development, a wanted ex-beauty queen, Aderinoye Queen Christmas, also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, has surrendered to the NDLEA after spending eight months in hiding. The former Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 was declared wanted by the agency in January after escaping a raid at her residence in Lekki, Lagos. She surrendered to the agency in Lagos after hiding in Akure, Ondo State.
