Minister of Women Affairs in Nigeria, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, recently halted a workshop in Abuja, criticizing its organization without her knowledge and calling it a “waste of money.”

The workshop, focused on the third-generation national action plan (2024-2029) related to the UN Security Council Resolution, was interrupted by the minister, who expressed her displeasure at officials organizing events without her involvement.

In a viral video, Kennedy-Ohanenye voiced her concerns about the misuse of funds for programs that lack direct impact, particularly for women and children suffering in the country. “This should be the last time an event is organized without my awareness,” she warned, emphasizing the need for initiatives that address poverty and empower women.

This is the second time this month that Kennedy-Ohanenye has disrupted an event in Abuja, with a previous incident involving the arrest of an organizer for ‘impersonation.’
