Nigerian singer Oyindamola Emmanuel Johnson-Hunga, popularly known as Dammy Krane, has been released from police custody after spending six days in detention at the Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja. Krane was arrested on August 22 on allegations related to cybercrime, following his accusations against fellow artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido.

Dammy Krane had alleged that Davido orchestrated his arrest by paying the police to detain him under false pretenses, accusing him of involvement in illegal activities related to Flutterwave and cryptocurrency scams. In a statement from his detention, Krane cautioned, “Davido should be held accountable if anything happens to me.”

However, in a surprising turn of events, Krane has retracted his allegations. In a video shared by social media activist VeryDarkMan following his release, Krane expressed his gratitude and issued an apology to Davido. “I wanna say a big thank you to my brother. I know there are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I know. I want to apologise for this Tagbo death allegation. Make una still remember David is my brother. And we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything,” he stated, referring to a past dispute involving the death of their mutual friend, Tagbo Umeike.

Krane also extended his thanks to the police commissioner in Abuja and VeryDarkMan for their support during his time in custody. FCID spokesperson Funmilayo Eguaoje confirmed Krane’s release but did not elaborate on the specific charges or reasons for his detention, noting only that he was interrogated by the cybercrime unit.

The feud between Krane and Davido dates back several months, with Krane accusing Davido of owing him money for songwriting contributions and sabotaging his record deal with Sony Music. Davido has denied the claims, labeling Krane as “ungrateful” and asserting that he provided shelter and support to Krane during a difficult period. Davido also dismissed the allegations related to Tagbo Umeike’s death and threatened legal action against Krane for “defamation of character and cyberbullying.”

Meanwhile, Dammy Krane has announced the release of his new project titled ‘King of Afrobeats,’ scheduled for September 6. In his video message, he urged fans to focus on spreading positive energy and music, saying, “It is still WorldStar movement. Let us spread more music.”
