Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from her husband, Ben Affleck, and is requesting to legally change her name back to “Jennifer Lynn Lopez.” According to divorce documents obtained by CNN, Lopez has asked to be officially recognized by her maiden name, stepping away from the “Jennifer Lynn Affleck” identity she adopted following their marriage.

The timing of the divorce filing coincides with the second anniversary of their wedding in Riceboro, Georgia, in 2022. Lopez listed the date of their separation as April 26, 2024, marking the end of their one year and nine months of marriage.

Reports have suggested that Lopez and Affleck have been living separately for months, with Lopez celebrating her birthday in July at a Bridgerton-themed party that did not include Affleck. This public absence fueled speculation about the couple’s relationship status, which has now culminated in their divorce.

Their separation marks yet another chapter in a love story that has captured the public’s attention for decades. Lopez and Affleck first met over 20 years ago on the set of the film “Gigli” and initially became engaged in 2003 before calling off their wedding. The couple rekindled their relationship in 2021, only to face “irreconcilable differences” that led to their recent split.

In a recent documentary titled The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Lopez reflected on her journey to self-love, a theme that resonated with her independently produced album This Is Me… Now. The documentary also highlighted the compromises Affleck made regarding their public life, a factor that may have contributed to their marital challenges.

As the couple moves forward separately, the spotlight remains on their storied relationship, which has unfolded under public scrutiny for decades.
