The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is embroiled in numerous legal battles following the recent dismissal of over 200 staff members as part of a reorganization led by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to reports, more than 100 lawsuits have been filed by the affected employees, challenging what they describe as the unjust termination of their employment. These individuals are demanding the payment of all entitlements and compensation for damages incurred due to their abrupt dismissal.

The lead counsel for several of the claimants, Ola Olanipekun, SAN, disclosed that the cases were filed at the National Industrial Court in Abuja. Olanipekun emphasized that his clients are seeking justice and fair compensation for the alleged unlawful actions by the CBN, which have resulted in financial losses amounting to hundreds of millions.

The claimants are also demanding N30 million as litigation costs and an additional 21% interest per annum on all judgment sums awarded from the date of the judgment until full payment is made.

The lawsuits stem from a letter titled “Re-Organisation,” which was issued on May 24, 2024, marking the official termination of the staff members.
