Renowned gospel singer Ajayi Aduke Morounkola, popularly known as Aduke Gold, has passed away.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele in the early hours of Tuesday, August 13. Igbekele shared the somber message on her verified Facebook page, stating, “A GENERAL HAS FALLEN. ADUKE GOLD #rip.”
The cause of Aduke Gold’s death has not yet been confirmed.
Aduke Gold, who was born in Ilesha and originally known as Aduke Penkele, began her music career in 2004. She gained widespread recognition after her live performance at the first remembrance of the late gospel artist Baba Ara.
She grew up in the Ogba and Badagry areas of Lagos and was the 11th child in a large polygamous family.
One of her most popular tracks, “Nitori Ogo,” released in 2021, further cemented her place in the gospel music scene. Beyond her music career, Aduke Gold was also passionate about education, particularly early childhood education. She held a degree in History and International Relations from Lagos State University and a second degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Lagos.
The gospel music community and fans alike mourn the loss of a talented and passionate singer whose legacy will continue to inspire.
