
The Rivers State High Court in Nigeria has reinstated Emeka Beke as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, nullifying the appointment of Tony Okocha and his caretaker committee members. Justice Sika Aprioku issued the ruling on Monday, August 12, 2024 also invalidating the dissolution of the state working committee led by Beke.
The judge further restrained Okocha and his associates from parading themselves as APC executive members in Rivers State. In response, Okocha criticized the ruling and announced plans to appeal, insisting he remains in charge.
Emeka Beke, in a press briefing, expressed gratitude to his supporters and the judiciary, affirming the APC’s participation in upcoming council elections. He also mentioned plans to secure the loyalty of 25 lawmakers, including Martin Amaewhule, in the coming days.
