Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Nigeria has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the metropolitan cities of Kaduna and Zaria.

Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, stated that the decision came after the Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Sani, reviewed the security situation. The council found substantial evidence indicating that the ongoing protests had been hijacked by criminal elements engaging in looting and property destruction.

Aruwan explained, “In view of this unfortunate development, the Kaduna State Security Council has unanimously resolved to impose a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria Metropolises and environs with immediate effect.”

Citizens are advised to remain indoors as security forces work to ensure safety and security. The situation will be monitored closely, and the curfew will be reviewed as needed.
