In Kaduna, Nigeria, a previously peaceful hunger protest escalated into violence as demonstrators set fire to the Headquarters of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) and looted nearby properties.

The unrest began as the large crowd of protesters marched back to Ahmedu Bello Way from the Kaduna Government House via Sokoto Road. Amid the chaos, the KASTLEA headquarters and adjacent private residences were targeted for arson and looting.

The Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development. Further details are expected shortly.

This incident follows a series of nationwide protests driven by economic hardship, with similar unrest reported in other regions, including Asaba and the Federal Capital Territory. Protesters in various locations have decried the high cost of living and have continued to demonstrate despite legal and governmental attempts to quell the dissent.
