The D’Tigress of Nigeria have achieved a historic victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics, defeating the Opals of Australia 75-62 in their first match. The game took place at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium on Monday, July 29, 2024.
This win marks Nigeria’s first Olympic match victory since the Athens 2004 Olympics, where they defeated South Korea in a classification game. The Australian team was ranked third in the competition’s power ranking, while Nigeria was placed 12th.
Under the leadership of Rena Wakama, the D’Tigress showcased a spirited performance that secured their spot in the Olympic history books.
