Helen Williams, a Nigerian lady, has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for creating the “widest wig.”
According to the Guinness World Records on Monday, Williams crafted a hairpiece that measures 3.65 meters (11 feet 11 inches) wide, which is equivalent in length to a Mini Cooper car. The car measures 3.63 meters (11 feet 10 inches) long.
Williams spent over a month creating her record-breaking masterpiece, using more than 800 bundles of auburn hair, which cost a staggering N4,138,200 ($2,719 or £2,150). The 31-year-old made the majority of the wig by hand but used a sewing machine for some parts.

Speaking about her achievement, Williams, who also holds the record for most hair clips in a wig in 30 seconds with 90 clips, said, “I am very proud of myself. I now hold three records. As a professional wig maker, I look forward to breaking many more records in the wig category. I enjoy taking on difficult tasks; it makes me a better person, and I learn new things.”
Williams revealed that she drew inspiration from actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore, a former record holder. “I am a big fan of Drew Barrymore. She also inspired me,” she said.
Williams now boasts three records, including one for inserting 90 hair clips into a wig in just 30 seconds and another for creating the longest handmade wig.
