The family of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has conducted a fresh autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
The Magistrate of the Coroner Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, T.A. Shotobi, had granted an order on June 26 for Mr. Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, to engage a licensed and certified pathologist for an independent autopsy.
The autopsy, which took place on July 19 and 20, 2024, is part of a two-phase process. Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, stated, “If the cause of death cannot be determined from this initial examination, the second part will proceed, involving a toxicology and histology test on the necessary samples already obtained.”
The procedure was witnessed by Mohbad’s father, a forensic pathologist appointed by him, and another pathologist appointed by Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi.
Mohbad, who died at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, had left Marlian Music in February 2022. His death sparked significant controversy, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and socialite Sam Larry. An earlier autopsy had failed to determine the cause of death due to the body’s decomposition, and subsequent toxicology tests were disputed by a US-based lab.
