President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has appealed to Nigerians to postpone the planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protest scheduled for next month.
Reports indicate that various groups are organizing a nationwide protest from August 1 to 10 in response to the rising cost of living and economic hardship.
In light of the impending protest, police and security forces have heightened their alert levels. Speaking through Information Minister Mohammed Idris after a meeting on Tuesday, Tinubu called on youths to trust his administration’s ability to address their concerns.
Idris conveyed the President’s message: “The issue of the planned protest, Mr. President does not see any need for that. He’s asked them to shelve that plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas. He has listened to them. Young people should listen to the president, and allow him more time.”
Tinubu’s plea aims to encourage patience among Nigerians as his government works on strategies to alleviate the economic challenges facing the country.
