LeBron James, the NBA’s all-time leading points scorer, has been selected as the male flagbearer for Team USA at the Paris Olympics, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced on Monday.
The 39-year-old Los Angeles Lakers forward was chosen by his fellow US Olympians for the honor at Friday’s opening ceremony on the river Seine. The female flagbearer will be revealed on Tuesday.
“It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together,” James stated in the USOPC announcement.
