A Nigerian biochemist and auto dealer, Oside Oluwole, popularly known as Khoded, has emerged as the new world record holder for the longest videogame marathon.
The Guinness World Record (GWR) announced the achievement on social media, highlighting the 24-year-old’s impressive feat of playing a soccer videogame for 75 hours, during which he played over 500 games.
Khoded surpassed the previous record of 50 hours, set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022. He embarked on this record-breaking attempt to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown, Ijebu-Ode.
In their announcement, GWR stated: “Before no one in the past has broken this record by such a large margin as Oside has. It was first set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and gradually increased to 50 hours after being beaten seven times in 11 years,” the statement concluded.
