Senator Tahir Munguno has replaced Senator Ali Ndume as Nigerian Senate Chief Whip.
The upper chamber took the unanimous resolution to effect the replacement through a voice vote after a letter of complaint against Ndume’s remarks, submitted by the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Headquarters, was read by Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Ndume, who was absent during the session, had been making critical remarks about President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, highlighting issues such as economic hardship, food scarcity, and the ensuing security crisis. Following the resolution, Ndume was not only stripped of his Chief Whip position but also removed as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. He has now been reassigned to Chair the Senate Committee on Tourism.
