
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Nigeria, has reinstated Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Gaya as the Emir of Gaya and approved the appointments of two second-class Emirs for Rano and Karaye.
In a statement disclosed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf stated that these new emirates would serve as second-class emirates, with Kano remaining a first-class emirate.
The newly appointed Emirs are Alhaji Muhammad Karaye for the Karaye Emirate and Alhaji Muhammad Umar for the Rano Emirate.
Governor Yusuf remarked, “While congratulating the newly appointed Emirs, I enjoin them to be custodians of culture, peace, and unity of the people in their respective emirates.”
Earlier, on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf had signed into law the creation of three second-class emirates in the state. The Rano Emirate will cover Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government areas; the Gaya Emirate will cover Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government areas; and the Karaye Emirate will cover Karaye and Rogo Local Government areas.
