The Kaduna State House of Assembly has reiterated its stance on the report accusing former Governor Nasir el-Rufai of diverting N423.1 billion. The Assembly maintains that the report is accurate, despite efforts by el-Rufai’s appointees to discredit the findings.
According to the Assembly, the appointees’ attempts to vilify the House and cover up the alleged fraud are futile. The Assembly’s Chairman of the Fact-Finding Committee, Henry Magaji, stated that the report’s findings are legitimate and demands accountability for the alleged mismanagement of Kaduna State’s resources.
The Assembly’s report had indicted el-Rufai of diverting funds meant for development projects, alleging that the former governor engaged in “systematic and coordinated cornering of the resources of Kaduna State through phoney contracts and outright looting.”
The Assembly’s stance comes after el-Rufai’s appointees held a press conference denying the allegations and accusing the Assembly of political vendetta. However, the Assembly has stood firm, insisting that the report’s findings are based on evidence and thorough investigation.
The Assembly’s resolve has sparked a heated debate in the state, with many calling for el-Rufai to be held accountable for his actions. The development has also raised questions about the role of the Assembly in ensuring transparency and accountability in government.
