President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Amaji Pinnick’s re-election bid for the Council of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

Pinnick, who has served two terms as President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was elected to the FIFA Council in March 2021, following in the footsteps of the late Oyo Orok Oyo and Dr. Amos Adamu.

“Mr. Pinnick is seeking re-election into the Council, and President Tinubu supports the bid for Nigeria to retain its seat in the Council,” stated presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale in a statement on Tuesday. “President Bola Tinubu expresses strong support for Nigeria’s bid for re-election into the FIFA Council.”

The FIFA Council, the main decision-making body of the organization between FIFA Congress sessions, comprises 37 members elected for a renewable term of four years.
