Shaboozey, known for his collaboration on Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter,” has reached a significant milestone in his career.
The Nigerian-American singer-songwriter became the first Black male artist to top both Billboard’s Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously with his hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” This achievement places him as the second Black artist ever to achieve this, following Beyoncé’s success with “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
The 29-year-old’s song is also the first single to reach the top 10 on the country, pop, adult pop, and rhythmic airplay charts. Earlier this year, Shaboozey replaced Beyoncé at the top of the Hot Country chart, marking the first consecutive topping by two Black artists in history.
Featured on Beyoncé’s tracks “Spaghettii” and “Sweet Honey Buckin’,” Shaboozey’s single “Tipsy” is part of his album “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,” which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in June.
Shaboozey’s performance of “Tipsy” at the 2024 BET Awards, where he brought out J-Kwon for a memorable show, further showcased his talent and appeal. He is now being embraced across the industry, highlighted by his attendance at Michael Rubin’s star-studded Fourth of July party. With a sold-out tour on the horizon, Shaboozey’s rise to superstardom continues.
